Global Scholar equips youth to be visionary leaders and bold changemakers around urgent global challenges. Global Scholar is the only program that gives youth the deep knowledge, game-changing skills, and powerful network to launch a lifetime of change making.
The program rests on three pillars: exploring our role as global citizens, deepening our understanding of global challenges, and expanding our skills to be leaders and change makers.
Scholars will leave with:
- A stronger sense of self and purpose, including tools for self-care and goal setting. Scholars also explore global careers, schools and opportunities.
- Greater fluency in the causes and impacts global issues including: climate change, human rights, global security, inequality, immigration.
- A stronger network. Scholars meet with experts working on the front lines of global change, and learn with and from other inspired youth leaders.
- Powerful tools to envision, design, communicate and win change around issues they care about.
- A renewed sense of hope and possibility for building a better world, and the skills and confidence to get started. They benefit from year-round coaching and small funding opportunities, too.
This summer, we’re offering the best of in-person and virtual programming, and a pay-what-you-can fee structure. All of our programs kick off with a three-day, virtual Power Up event, during which participants will meet and learn from youth leaders around the globe; explore the basics of our global systems; and start exploring what it means to be an engaged global citizen. Following the 3-day virtual kick-off event, Global Scholars have the option to continue their experience in Washington, D.C. or online.

We strive to ensure the Global Scholar experience is as accessible as possible, which translates to our approach to staffing, recruitment, programming, technology, and scholarship support. We offer as many scholarships as possible, depending on funding. Most of our scholarships are partial, and they do not cover transportation to / from the program. In 2022, over 45% of the class received partial or full scholarships to attend Global Scholar.
The first step is to apply to and be accepted to the program, after which we’ll share information on how to apply for a scholarship. If you require a waiver of the $50 application fee please email us at globalscholar@ampglobalyouth.org prior to submitting your application.
