Spend the summer on Barnard's campus! Join Barnard faculty and students in the classroom and earn college credit through our Pre-Baccalaureate program. For high school juniors and seniors, and gap year students.

Students enroll in one 3-credit course taught by a member of Barnard's world renowned faculty. Courses are held on campus, run for 7 weeks, and are fast paced and rigorous. Outside of the classroom students are part of our Barnard community and will explore New York City, participate in college readiness workshops and career exploration panels. Each year, hundreds of bright and bold young women apply to a Barnard Pre-College Program. Students come from all 50 states and over 20 countries.

Available courses are announced each winter.

Barnard Pre-College Programs are committed to providing young women  with a community to grow and learn intentionally and safely. Our programs are academically rigorous, enriching, and exploratory. Financial Aid Details

Each year the program provides a limited amount of need-based financial aid to students. Aid is need based only. The office does not provide merit based scholarships or financial aid for international students.

To be considered for financial aid, students must submit the required financial aid application and documents along with their Pre-College Program Application. Financial aid applications, like program applications, are reviewed on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible if they wish to apply for financial aid. After a student is accepted to the program, they will receive a follow up email letting them know whether or not they were awarded aid. Students who receive aid will receive a voucher code to reduce their tuition at the time of registration.

Barnard was founded in 1889 as the first college in New York City to offer degrees to women. Since then, Barnard College has aimed to provide the highest-quality liberal arts education to promising and high-achieving young women. The College is known for its rigorous academic programs, small class sizes, and collaborative environment dedicated to promoting women's education and leadership. Barnard students have the unique advantage of studying at an independent college which is also part of a major research university, Columbia University, located just across the street.
