The Boston College Experience provides motivated high school students the opportunity to live and learn as students at Boston College and experience life as a college student. Built into the programs are activities that help to prepare students for their college search and the transition into college life. Students will participate in service-learning activities, cultural and social outings all while enjoying the beautiful city of Boston.
In this two-week program, students study creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry and explore their own unique voices and the diverse voices of published writers. Students will identify and analyze different styles of writing and collect a "toolbox" of craft techniques that they will put into practice by writing their own original creative pieces. Classes will consist of reading, discussion, writing exercises, and writing workshops in which students will have the opportunity to give and receive constructive feedback on their work. As a seminar capstone, students will have the opportunity to participate in a public reading to present their work.
