If you could take a class in any subject, what would it be? No matter your answer to that question, chances are you’ll find it at Summer@Brown. Choose from more than 300 non-credit courses reflecting the wide range of Brown University’s Open Curriculum that challenge you with new perspectives on how you work, learn and live. You will be in class for three hours daily, five days a week – along with about three additional hours of independent study time each day. Expect to be challenged and to engage with your instructor and fellow students through reciprocal inquiries, actively joining class discussions and group work as well as individual study.

With so many students from different locations, backgrounds and interests, at Brown Pre-College you'll join a community of peers who bring broad and deep perspectives to living and learning together. Courses can be taken online, as a commuter, or in residence, and last between 1 and 5 weeks.
During in-person courses, you’ll participate in workshops, activities and events — scheduled from morning to night — that inform, engage and entertain. Along the way, you’ll make new friends from around the world and learn to live independently and responsibly: skills that will prepare you well for life in college and long after.

Cost/Compensation
- Course fees range from $2,575-$5,251, with additional Residential and Commuter fees. The course fees range from $3,028-$5,877 for Online students.
- For Summer@Brown students, the cost will range based on the number and duration of courses to be taken. Some courses may include supplemental or materials fees; these are listed within the course description in the course catalog. Some students may incur additional fees; see the Financial Policies page for details.
Eligibility Requirements
- Many programs have specific language proficiency eligibility requirements. Applicants must be between 14 and 18 years of age at the beginning of their chosen program.

Application or Entry Requirements
Brown Pre-College offers groupings of courses or Programs that focus on an area of study. While all accepted students are able to enroll in courses across any program that we offer it is beneficial to determine the program that best suits your needs when you begin your enrollment process. Programs may have different schedules, locations or anticipated outcomes. Selecting a program is a helpful first step in identifying the course you choose to enroll in. Please note that some programs have specific grade, age and language proficiency eligibility requirements. With over 300 courses available, Brown Pre-College provides you a range of opportunities to explore your passions and engage your potential.
- Create your account on the student portal. Be sure to create only one account per applicant. All applications are submitted electronically within your student portal.
- Complete your application in your student portal. This is where you will provide information about yourself, complete the essay requirement, input the name and email address of the individual providing your recommendation (if applicable), upload your transcript and upload your most recent grade report.
- Please monitor your student portal once you have submitted your application as you may receive communications if any information is missing or incomplete. Admissions decisions will also be posted to your student portal.

Notifications of Decisions
- Rolling admission decisions will be sent to students as they become available beginning in late January
- The final admissions decisions will be sent by late May
