The Contra Costa County Science & Engineering Fair (CCCSEF) is a regional competition for students in grades 7-12 in Contra Costa County, California. The winning entries move on to state, national, and international competitions, including the California Science and Engineering Fair, the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), and the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.

  • $35 registration fee

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students who are in 7th-12th grade in Contra Costa County schools.
  • Pre-approval is required for projects involving vertebrate animals, human subjects, recombinant DNA, tissue, pathogenic agents, or controlled substances. You must have advance approval of your project application from the Scientific Review Committee (SRC) prior to experimentation.
  • ALL projects must be approved by the Scientific Review Committee BEFORE work begins on the project. If you plan to begin work on your project before a deadline, you still need to submit your completed project application so that it can be reviewed and approved before you begin your work, regardless of whether or not your project involves the above-listed items required for pre-approval.
