Educational Testing Service (ETS) is proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending a private or publicly supported Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Eight scholars (four from a private HBCU and four from a public HBCU) will be selected to receive a full tuition-only need/merit scholarship for each academic school year.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrolled full time as a junior or senior at an HBCU college
  • Current grade point average of 3.5 or higher 
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities 
  • Demonstrates a financial need 
  • U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551

Deadline

  • March 1

Application or Entry Requirements

  • One-page statement outlining your financial need 
  • Transcript (official or unofficial) for your most recently completed academic term; this should include your Fall 2023 grades and cumulative GPA 
  • An email address for the two individuals providing your recommendation letter 
  • An original essay answering the following question (maximum of 500 words): 
    • Of all your courses, educational experiences and work experiences, which one did you find most rewarding or personally satisfying, and why? How did your selection help your progression toward your career goal? 
  • A video “essay” (two minutes or less) in which you answer the following question: 
    • Based on your own experience as a high-achieving student, what practical advice would you offer to students who seek academic success?

Notifications of Decisions

  • Recipients will be notified in June

ETS develops, administers, and scores a wide range of standardized tests and assessments globally. These include the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), GRE (Graduate Record Examinations), and Praxis Series exams, among others.
