The Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair is a competition for students attending high school in Fairfax County, Virginia. Students may earn entry to the regional competition through a science fair held at their local public or private schools. 

Awards at the Regional level include:

  • Grand Awards advance to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)
  • Top Awards advance to the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair 
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention in each competing category
  • Special Awards from over 50 professional STEM organizations

  • Annually in March

  • Free

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students in grades 9-12 who have competed in high school science fairs in Fairfax County, Virginia and have earned entry to the regional fair.

Deadline

  • Early March

Application or Entry Requirements

  • Completed online registration form
  • Approval forms must be signed and, if required, reviewed by the SRC (Safety Review Committee) before any experimentation can begin.

Notifications of Decisions

  • Registration opens in early December
