Fordham's Summer Leaders Academy is an immersive pre-college program that combines innovative academic courses and college application preparation on our beautiful 85-acre campus with activities in the most exciting classroom of all, New York City.

With on-campus housing available, this pre-college program is crafted to redefine your summer and set the stage for your future success.

In the Fordham Summer Leaders Academy, students select one course to pursue, which meets daily in the morning and afternoon in one and two-week sessions through July.

In the late afternoons and weekends, students will have the opportunity to bond and prepare for their college and professional journeys.

Activities will include:

  • Sessions on the college application process given by Fordham's Undergraduate Team.
  • Career exploration through Fordham's Career Services office.
  • Making the most of Fordham's incredible new campus center and athletic facilities.
  • Community-building social activities with Fordham's Student Engagement team.
  • Chaperoned off-campus excursions around New York City.

Immersion 1, 4, and 5 (non-credit)

  • Resident: $1,939
  • Commuter: $1,358

Immersion 2 and 3 (non-credit)

  • Resident: $4,130

Immersion 2 and 3 (3-credit)

  • Resident: $4,800

Immersion 2 and 3 (4-credit)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Non-credit courses are open to high school students who have completed their freshman year. Courses are recommended for those with a 3.0 or better. 
  • Credit-bearing courses are primarily for rising high school seniors with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better. Rising juniors may apply with a letter of recommendation

  • April 15: Resident Application Deadline
  • May 1: Commuter Application Deadline for Immersion 1
  • May 15: Commuter Application Deadline for Immersion 2 and 3

Application or Entry Requirements

Credit-bearing courses:

  • Analytical writing sample from a class
  • An analytical writing sample from a class
  • An unofficial copy of your high school transcript
  • Your fall report card if the grades are not reflected on your transcript
  • Rising juniors only: a letter of recommendation
  • If you are applying for housing, you will need a brief letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor attesting to your academic performance, personal attributes (including work ethic and conduct), and ability to live responsibly on campus.

Non-credit courses:

  • An unofficial copy of your high school transcript.
  • Your fall report card if the grades are not reflected on your transcript.
  • If you are applying for housing, you will need a brief letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor attesting to your academic performance, personal attributes (including work ethic and conduct), and ability to live responsibly on campus.
  • If you are applying for the Musical Theatre Workshop, an audition song is required.

Notifications of Decisions

  • Applicants will be notified of acceptance approximately two weeks after submitting a completed application.

Financial Aid Details

  • While there is no financial aid, a limited number of need-based discounts are available. 
  • The deadline to apply for a discount is April 1.
  • Students are encouraged to apply if they are eligible to receive free or reduced lunches at school and maintain a G.P.A. of 3.5 or better. Within the application, there is a section “More About You” that allows you to indicate if you would like to be considered for a discount. You may upload your proof of eligibility within the application itself or on the Status portal of your application. Acceptable proof of eligibility includes a copy of your family’s SNAP or free lunch notification (certification/re-certification) letter or a letter from a guidance counselor or administrator confirming your status.
