The Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) offers internships for students during the Summer, Fall, and Spring terms. Each intern is paired with a scholar or professional in their field of interest and has the opportunity to:
- Connect with members of the foreign relations community
- Gain experience working for a think tank
- Attend weekly foreign policy and career-focused seminars
- Have access to FPRI’s in-person, virtual, and hybrid events
- Work on a research paper to be considered for publication on FPRI’s Intern Corner
Research interns work under the supervision of an FPRI staffer and alongside scholars in one of the following research areas:
- Middle East
- Eurasia
- Africa
- Asia.

Application or Entry Requirements
- Must submit a PDF file that includes:
- Cover letter stating which internship you are applying for – Operations, Development, Communications, Editorial, Eurasia, Middle East, Africa, or Asia
- CV
- Writing sample of 3-5 pages of work relevant to the internship you are applying for
- Eurasia Program: advanced language skills, study abroad, field research, and time spent in the region are particularly of interest
- Middle East Program: language skills in one or more languages of the Middle East (Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Hebrew, Kurdish), along with study abroad, field research, or time spent in the Middle East region are particularly of interest
- Africa Program: interns must have the ability to effectively communicate with their supervisors via Zoom, Skype, or by phone
- Asia Program: interested in applicants with experience studying Japan and/or ASEAN, writing original analysis, collecting open-source data, and researching in foreign languages

Financial Aid Details
- There are a limited number of paid part-time internships available
- Stipend awards are determined by financial need after interns are selected for their program
