The Frederick County Science and Engineering Fair is an annual competition open to students in grades 6-12 who live in or attend schools in Frederick County, Maryland. Top winners in the middle school division are invited to participate in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, while top winners in the high school division are eligible to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Eligibility Requirements
- Open to all students (private, public or homeschooled) who live in or attend school in Frederick County, Maryland.
- Students DO NOT need to qualify through a school fair to participate in this county level fair.
- Students may enter only one project per year.
- Participants with potentially hazardous projects (human subjects, vertebrates, biological agents, institution based projects, hazardous chemicals, etc.) MUST complete additional ISEF forms and receive pre-approval as needed.

- 1C - Regulated Research Institutional/industrial Setting (if applicable)
- 7 - Continuation Projects (if applicable)
- 4 - Human Participants and Informed Consent Form (if applicable)
- 2 - Qualified Scientist Form (if applicable)
- Human Consent form (if applicable)
- 5A - Vertebrate Animal SRC Form (if applicable)
- 5B - Vertebrate Animal IACUC Form (if applicable)
- 6A - Potential Hazardous Biological Agents Form (if applicable)
- 6B - Human and Vertebrate Animal Tissue Form (if applicable)
- 3 - Risk Assessment Form (if applicable)
- High school students are also required to upload a project presentation (in addition to the physical project board), a short 2-minute video explaining their project, and a quad chart.
- Participants may also submit the following optional components: a 1 minute video demonstration, a research paper and/or a lab notebook image/excerpt.
