The Fresno County Science Fair is an annual competition for students who are in 6th-12th grade and live in the following California counties; Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, and Tulare. The Fair provides an opportunity for discourse among like-minded, high-achieving middle and high school students and fosters an interest in science, mathematics, and engineering while offering a rewarding competitive setting in which students can showcase their research projects and set the stage for the rest of their academic careers.
Through the annual Fair competition, hundreds of the county's students are challenged to go beyond their classroom studies to do independent project-based research. They work independently or in teams of up to three to address questions in the fields of Computer Science, Environmental Science, Medicine & Health, Chemistry, Biology, and a half dozen other categories. Winning students have the opportunity to advance to the California State Science Fair and/or the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
