High school students gain the computer science skills they need to make an impact and prepare for tech careers in our free, virtual Summer Programs. Summer Program participants invest in their future by learning about tech jobs and meeting industry leaders, all while building a supportive community of sisterhood. These Programs offer incredible benefits including professional connections, financial grants, tech support and much more - no previous computer science experience required!!

There are two program options: 

  • Summer Immersion Program (SIP)
    • In the 2-week Summer Immersion Program (SIP), high school students attend live, virtual classes sponsored by industry-leading companies like MetLife, Bank of America, Logitech and Synchrony. SIP students will dive into the tech world and game design, covering beginner to intermediate CS concepts, the step-by-step design process, and the basics of UX design.
  • Pathways: 
    • In Pathways, high school students can explore web development, cyber security, data science, and artificial intelligence. Participants work at their own pace to learn coding languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, and have the opportunity to build community through live events.

  • SIP Round 1 (US Students Only): July 7th - July 18th, 2025
  • SIP Round 2 (US and International Students): July 28th - August 8th, 2025
  • Pathways: June 30th, 2025 - August 8th, 2025

Cost/Compensation

  • Free

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students must identify as female or nonbinary
  • SIP: US students must be current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders
  • Pathways: US students must be current, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th, graders
  • International students must be between the ages of 14 and 18 for either program

Deadline

  • Early admission: mid-February
  • Regular admission: mid-April

Girls Who Code is a non-profit organization whose mission is to bridge the gender gap in technology and computer science. Founded in 2012, Girls Who Code provides young girls with educational programs and a supportive community to inspire and empower them to pursue careers in technology and engineering. Their initiatives include after-school clubs, summer immersion programs, and a range of resources that equip girls with coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of computer science concepts.
