The MyImpact Challenge is a civic engagement contest from the Bill of Rights Institute that promotes and fosters a robust understanding of citizenship to get students active in their communities.
Through this contest, students will:
- Learn how their community service and civic engagements project carry out the vision of the Founders and align to constitutional principles
- Share how projects they have designed and executed are evidence of community impact and change
The Bill of Rights Institute supports students with:
- Activities that explore the connections between
- Citizenship
- Charity
- Entrepreneurship
- Design Thinking
- Live webinars with student and community leaders
- Support staff to help them along the way

Eligibility Requirements
- US citizens and US-based students between the ages of 13 and 19
- Must be enrolled in middle school or high school
- Submission is open to students in all U.S. states, territories, and Armed Forces Schools Abroad.
- Previous winners of the Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, or Third Prize are not eligible to enter

Application or Entry Requirements
- Each submission must include the following:
- An essay of up to 1,200 words expressing how the student’s project furthers:
- At least one Civic Virtue as defined in the Bill of Rights Institute’s “Principles and Virtues.”
- At least one of Founding Principle as defined in the Bill of Rights Institute’s “Principles and Virtues.”
- A report of up to 2,000 words detailing a student’s completed or in-progress civic engagement project. Report must include the following components:
- The inspiration for the project.
- The project plan.
- Details of the project’s execution.
- At least two examples of the project’s demonstrated impact on the community.
- How the student(s) grew in understanding civic virtue, knowledge of their communities, and their ability to support or impact them.
- Visual documentation of the student’s project and its results in one of the following formats:
- Photographic Only: No fewer than seven and no more than ten high-resolution still photographs, submitted in either JPEG or PNG format.
- Video Only: One video of no more than five minutes, submitted in MP4 format.
- Mixed Photographic and Video: No fewer than five and no more than seven high-resolution still photographs as well as one video of no more than two minutes. Photographs must be in either JPEG or PNG format, and video must be in MP4 format.
