The National High School Journal of Science is a free, online, student-run and peer-reviewed research journal that is targeted towards high school students. Striving to bring science to a wider audience and engaging students in learning beyond the classroom walls, our journal hopes to expose young people to new ideas and topics. This high school student-run science journal always welcomes aspiring scientists to submit articles and to get involved with our publishing process.

Though run by students, we maintain high standards for publication thanks to the work of our dedicated peer reviewers and experienced Scientist Advisory Board, consisting of professional researchers. Our publications fall under two main categories: original research done by high school students and articles describing significant developments in science and policy; other content includes interviews with experienced scientists and advice for aspiring researchers.

Students can submit the following:

Original Research

Original research papers are expected to present findings in research. These manuscripts will be reviewed by peer and professional reviewers. Research articles must include an abstract, an introduction, five or more figures or tables, and sections with subheadings. See our submission guidelines for a full list of requirements. Additional methods, figures, and tables should be included in the supporting online material. Any other necessary information to help support the paper’s conclusions is also required. Please submit your research here.

Reports

Reports describe significant developments. These manuscripts will be reviewed by peer and professional reviewers. Reports must include an abstract, an introduction, no more than four figures or tables, and sections with subheadings. See our submission guidelines for a full list of requirements. Reports should not just summarize known information, but should inform the reader about ongoing research or new advances being made.
