The NSPA Clips & Clicks Contest is a competition open to all NSPA members that takes place twice every year, in the Spring and Fall semesters. Clips & Clicks offers multiple categories for student achievement in broadcast, design, photojournalism, and writing. Fall-semester and spring-semester results then determine the annual Sweepstakes Award going to the publication with the most and highest individual winners.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to all NSPA members
  • No limit on entries
  • Any student on staff at an NSPA-member publication is eligible, with shared bylines of up to five students per entry
  • The fall contest encompasses work published/broadcast from May to December in an NSPA-member broadcast, publication, or website
  • The spring contest encompasses work published/broadcast from December to May 8 in an NSPA-member broadcast, publication, or website

  • The BetterBNC award platform is used to submit, track, and manage Clips & Clicks
  • Payment for entries using credit card and PayPal is also handled through this site

It is based and incorporated in Minnesota as a non-profit educational association, and provides journalism education services to students, teachers, media advisers, and others throughout the United States and abroad. The NSPA's mission is to advance journalism and media as a vital cultural force by connecting advisers, students, and professionals through national events and competitions.
