The Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, the premiere summer workshop focusing on baroque instruments and voice, prepares musicians to perform some of the great works on period instruments. Learn from faculty and resident artists and participate in master classes, recitals, and student concerts to practice baroque techniques and gain a fuller appreciation of this unique musical genre.

Schedule

  • Two weeks from mid June to early July (students can also choose to attend only one week of the program)

Cost/Compensation

  • Two-week residential program (meals not included): $2,100 to $2,300 (based on dorm selection
  • One-week residential program (meals not included): $1,100 to $1,250 (based on dorm selection)
  • Two-week commuter program: $1,350
  • One-week commuter program: $700

Eligibility Requirements

  • High school students who are at the advanced-level of playing on the modern instrument, with some or no experience on the baroque instrument are welcome to apply.

Deadline

  • Priority registration deadline: March 1
  • Final registration deadline if space allows: April 25

Financial Aid Details

  • Approximately 10 students will be awarded a half-price scholarship for the two-week residential program that also includes three meals a day.
