The Special Olympics, which provides athletic opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, is in need of volunteers of all ages, with commitments ranging from one day to long term.  Possible volunteer opportunities include coaching, officiating, venue set up, competition aides, assisting with opening and closing ceremonies, event clean up, various support positions, and playing alongside Special Olympics athletes in unified competitions. Special Olympics is a global nonprofit organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics operates in over 190 countries, with millions of athletes of all ages participating in its programs in swimming, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, and many others. Special Olympics holds international competitions every four years, known as the Special Olympics World Games. These events bring together thousands of athletes from around the world, showcasing their skills, determination, and achievements. The World Games serve as a platform to celebrate the abilities of individuals with intellectual disabilities and promote a more inclusive society.
