Technovation Girls is a free technology-based program for girls, as well as trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming individuals, ages 8-18. 

Working in teams of 1 to 5, participants find a problem in their community and build a mobile or web app to help solve it. Along the way, they develop their collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Technovation Girls will take 40+ hours to complete (we recommend allocating at least 12 weeks to finish) and is completely free.

Schedule

  • Submissions are due May 15th, 2025
  • Judging for Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals will occur from May through October, 2025
  • 2025 Technovation World Summit Finals date TBA

Cost/Compensation

  • Free

Eligibility Requirements

  • Participants must be no younger than 8 years old, and no older than 18 years old, as of August 1st, 2025
  • A team can have between 1-5 members who identify as female, trans, nonbinary or gender nonconforming. 
  • Your team will be automatically placed in either the Beginner, Junior, or Senior division to compete, based on the age of the oldest member of your team.
    • Beginner Division: 8-12 years old as of August 1st, 2025
    • Junior Division: 13-15 years old as of August 1st, 2025
    • Senior Division: 16-18 years old as of August 1st, 2025

Deadline

  • Registration Deadline: March 17th, 2025
  • Submission Deadline: May 5th, 2025

Application or Entry Requirements

  • Registration
    • A completed registration form.
    • Each team member will need to complete their own profile.
  • Submission
    • All teams will submit a project that must be an app—either a mobile app or a web app. Teams may of course still incorporate AI in their apps.
    • Beginner teams may submit a Scratch project, a mobile app, or web app.
    • Teams will need to submit all required materials for their division. 
      • Beginner Division: 8-12 years old as of August 1st, 2025
        • Project name and description
        • Pitch video (3 minutes max) 
        • Technical video (3 minutes)
        • Technovation learning journey essay with photos and/or screenshots
        • Mobile app or web app or Scratch source code
        • Optional: team photo and summary
      • Junior Division: 13-15 years old as of August 1st, 2025
        • Project name and description
        • Pitch video (3 minutes max) 
        • Technical video (3 minutes)
        • User adoption plan
        • Technovation learning journey essay with photos and/or screenshots
        • Mobile app or web app source code
        • Optional: team photo and summary
      • Senior Division: 16-18 years old as of August 1st, 2025
        • Project name and description
        • Pitch video (3 minutes max)
        • Technical video (3 minutes max)
        • Business plan
        • Technovation learning journey essay with photos and/or screenshots
        • Mobile app or web app source code
        • Optional: team photo and summary
