Technovation Girls is an education program and competition in which girls create solutions to community problems using technology. Working in teams of 1 to 5, girls find a problem in their community and build a mobile app or AI project to help solve it. Along the way, they develop their collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Technovation Girls will take 40+ hours to complete (we recommend allocating at least 12 weeks to finish) and is completely free.
As a participant you will:
- Identify a problem that matters to your community
- Build a mobile app or AI prototype that solves the problem, and develop other skills along the way!
- Collaborate with peers and learn from industry mentors
Technovision Girls’ curriculum covers all the necessary information that students will need to develop their idea and submit it to the competition. The curriculum is updated every season.
There are 2 curricula: one for the Beginner Division (ages 8-12) and one for both the Junior (13-15) and Senior (16-18) Divisions.
- The Beginner curriculum contains lessons with content and activities related to these themes: Problem Solving/Brainstorming, Prototypes, Mobile App Development, and Artificial Intelligence. The Beginner curriculum is only accessible through the Technovation Girls Platform.
- The Junior and Senior curriculum contains lessons with content and activities related to these themes: Ideation, Pitch, Coding, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence. You can complete all the lessons in the suggested order or just complete the ones that apply to your needs.
- This curriculum is open for anyone to access. However, in order to submit to the Technovation Girls competition, you must register for an account. The lessons are organized to follow a 12-week schedule and contain content and activities that will teach you about new things and prepare you for your submission.
All teams must submit the required materials to participate in the competition and receive judge feedback. Adults mentors act as a support and leader for the teams.
