The Young Scientist is a peer-reviewed journal focused on communicating scientific work performed by high school students. It is a product of the Vanderbilt Center for Science Outreach, a group that is dedicated to enhancing scientific and technological literacy through the establishment of unique partnerships between Vanderbilt University scientists, K-12 educators and students, and the local and global science community.
Students who wish to submit original research should download the Young-Scientist-Template to create their manuscript and supporting files. The Abstract and Introduction (which includes Background and Significance) should be written for a more general audience such that anyone with or without a science background can understand the purpose and overall goal of the work subsequently described. These sections are followed by more technical Methods, Results, and Discussion sections, which should be readable to a person familiar with scientific research (but not necessarily in the field of expertise).
